Fr Steve's Prayers for Sunday

Fr Rodney has prepared two information leaflets which you may find useful to guide members of the our congregations in presenting both the readings and the intercessions - they are available in .pdf form to read here (intercessions) and here (readings), and can also be downloaded to print from our resources page here

The prayers set out below should be carefully read and, where necessary, amended for YOUR use

Intercessions for Sunday next before Lent Year A – 15th February 2026

Holy God your Son Jesus was wonderfully transfigured in front of his disciples high upon the holy mountain, and at that time he asked them to keep it a secret.  Help us, not to keep the secret but to proclaim it to all that Jesus Christ is Lord.  Give us strength to live the Gospel and to carry our cross in order that the world to come to know him in the same, personal way as we do.

Short Silence)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

Gracious God we pray for all the members of the Church in their vocation and ministry that they may serve you in truth and love. We especially for our Readers and Clergy with PTO called to serve the Church and to work together with Clergy here in the Costa Blanca.  We also pray for all the events which are planned for this coming Lent and Easter.

 (Short Silence)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

Creator God, you gave us a beautiful world to live in and to care for.  We know that in many areas our Stewardship has not met your expectations yet, through the victory of Jesus Christ, we know also that you can transfigure and restore all things in creation. We pray earnestly, for a change of heart and attitude, an awakening to a better way of living, and the courage to reject wrong principles and decisions throughout the world.

(Short Silence)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

Father God, forgive us when we waste our lives by being too busy to enjoy your creation. Teach us how to make spaces in the day to do the things we most enjoy. Just as you rested from your work, help us to practise the discipline of recreation.

(Short Silence)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

Loving God, we pray for all who lie stricken with illness, grief or despair.  Bring healing to every broken life, relief to all who are in pain, hope to the dying and strength to all who care for them.

(add names of those requesting prayer)

(Short Silence)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

Merciful God, we raise before  you those whom we love who are already transformed in likeness to your glorious body.  Comfort us and all who mourn; give them a patient faith in this time of darkness and strengthen them with the knowledge of your love

(add names of the recently departed or on Anniversary list)

(Short Silence)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

Everlasting God in the week that lies before us may we reflect your love in our families, our church and our community; so that the world can see that we are transformed by Christ and thereby draw others into Jesus' loving care.

Merciful father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen

Yours in Christ

Rev’d Steve Foster

We have been asked by The Archbishops of Canterbury and York to continue to pray for Ukraine:

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

We write to you as the world is in turmoil following recent events in Eastern Europe

I am sure that you will agree that the horrific and unprovoked attack on Ukraine is an act of great evil

Now, more than ever, we need to place our trust in Jesus Christ, as we remember that God is not the author of confusion but of peace; and so I urge you to pray for a ceasefire, a withdrawal of Russian forces and for peace to prevail

Pray for the innocent – the women, men and children who are displaced, whose lives are disrupted, and who live in fear of the atrocities of war

Pray for those with power – that they may make a resolute and public decision to never use force, to actively work for peace and seek peaceful solutions to dispute and disagreement

Pray that there may be a recognition of common and shared humanity and God’s promise of flourishing life for all people

The Bishop in Europe has asked us to join them in prayer for the chaplaincy in Kyiv and the churches that serve Ukraine

At this time of great uncertainty, we place our hope and trust in God, whose love never fails. Lord, have mercy
